Call for Walls

On behalf of a dynamic, extensive group of local public and private collaborators, with support from partners including Artlink Inc., Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) invites the creative community to help shape a transformative regional brand that will redefine how the world sees us.

The Project & Background

Our region’s creativity and innovation is an untold story.

Greater Phoenix has experienced unprecedented growth, from leading-edge AI and semiconductor development to groundbreaking climate technology and biosciences, it is now a magnet for innovators, investors, and disruptors.

To ignite local pride and elevate global understanding of Greater Phoenix, we are creating a comprehensive regional brand platform to establish and transform perceptions through authentic storytelling of our vibrant, diverse hub of creativity and innovation.

This is more than a single brand or campaign—it’s a movement to authentically represent the collaborative spirit, diverse innovators, unique creatives, and unbounded opportunities that define Greater Phoenix today.

The Opportunity

We are calling on property owners, residents, and community organizations to help identify walls and surfaces across our city for potential public art murals. These mural projects will be managed by GPEC, including the selection of and compensation for the muralists.

The goal is to collaborate with the community to bring inspiring, inclusive, and vibrant art into public spaces that reflect our shared identity, history, and vision for the future.

We invite submissions of exterior walls in highly visible or community-relevant locations.

Selection Criteria

Walls will be reviewed and selected based on the following:

  1. Visible to the public throughout the day
  2. High-traffic or pedestrian-friendly location
  3. Good to excellent condition and suitable for painting (free of major cracks or damage, without significant texture)
  4. Willingness to be a good steward of the mural project by cleaning and preparing the wall for a mural (may include pressure washing and/or repairs).
  5. Is the space surrounding the wall on your property or in the city right of way (requiring additional permits)?
