An Interdisciplinary Artspace
The mood room is a new gallery concept by Artlink, Inc. that seeks to address the needs of 21st century artistic practice. More than just a white cube for exhibiting art, the mood room was founded in 2020 at Park Central in midtown Phoenix in order to connect the events and services that Artlink provides to artists while expanding the kinds of support that cultural creatives need in order to grow their personal vision into transformative art experiences. The aim of the mood room is to promote the arts in every medium by connecting creatives with new exhibition opportunities, special projects, growing patronage, cultural influencers, and the collective resources of arts organizations from across the Valley and beyond.
Proposals
Every season the mood room will issue a call for arts professionals to submit exhibition proposals that seek to support dialog and diversity in the arts. This will include accepting proposals for exhibits as well as educational programming, artist talks, community centered happenings, music events, spoken word nights, fashion shows, dance performances, open mic evenings and much more. The mood room was founded to advance awareness about the arts across the largest possible spectrum of interests, mediums and modes of expression, and we want you to submit exciting proposals for events at the mood room that allow people to encounter the arts in new and innovative formats.
Possibilities
The mood room will support artists using all of the Artlink’s traditional resources, including providing information on how to find more opportunities in the art scene, how to connect to the Phoenix Artwalk on First and Third Fridays, how to become an Articipant and how get involved in special art events throughout the year. The mood room will debut its programming with a greatly expanded model of gallery-based initiatives that include hosting up to four events/exhibits per a month, organizing alternative spaces where new voices can gain exposure and locating areas throughout the city for site activations, interventions and other forms of creative placemaking. The mood room has the aim of growing awareness about issues in contemporary art and culture, transforming outreach and engagement in the arts, and building creative economies that can endure, grow and thrive in Arizona.
