New Artist-Centric Arts Program to Include an Expanded Focus on Art, Culture, Fashion, Music and Design

Downtown Phoenix’s arts and culture hotspot, FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, located at 1100 North Central Avenue, is pleased to announce FOUND:RE Contemporary, a new elevated arts experience for locals and hotel guests.

FOUND:RE Contemporary will feature visual and performing arts in three galleries, an art lounge and a number of auxiliary showcase spaces including mural walls, a sculpture yard, and much more. The innovative program will present emerging and established artists through a regular series of art exhibitions and special events in partnership with Artlink Inc., 501(c)3 a nonprofit that promotes art events and initiatives.

The launch of FOUND:RE Contemporary is Thursday, February 20, from 6 to 10 p.m., with two opening exhibitions that are free and open to the public:

“Geometric Elegance: Art in the Age of Computational Beauty,” is the first property-wide exhibit in a cycle of exhibitions that will be revolving three times a year. It will feature the very best painters and sculptors working today, each approaching geometric art from a different angle, expanding on the visual opulence of Hard Edge painting, the optical effects of large-scale murals and the monumental impact of sculptural forms. Artists included this show are James Angel, Rowan Burkham, Hollis Cooper, Jeff Davis, Peter Deise, Leenie Engel, Lori Fenn, Daniel Funkhouser, Richard Galling, Danielle Hacche, Lisa Von Hoffner, Travis Ivey, Mike Jacobs, Carrie Marill, Mark Pomilio, Travis Rice, Rembrandt Quiballo, Jayson Ward, RJ Ward, Grant Wiggins, and Ben Willis.

“In Sequence,” is a two person exhibition featuring the work of Jeff Davis and Grant Wiggins. Both artists work in series to create abstract, graphic, and bold imagery but use radically different means and subject matter as inspiration for their individual artistic practices. This month long exhibition will be held in the new FOUND:RE Contemporary gallery, which is a standalone building on the property at FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, just off the historic Portland Street.

“In addition to the First and Third Friday Art Walks and upcoming Art Detour, FOUND:RE Contemporary will invite art lovers from throughout the city and across the nation to enjoy exhibits embracing the entire spectrum of visual art as well film, fashion, and music,” said Tim Sprague, Managing Partner.

The expanded program in concert with Artlink will support the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel’s 360-degree view of greater Phoenix, by connecting cultural tourists with the region’s thriving arts and culture community. “With the exceptional growth of the Arts District and that of the metropolitan area, the launch of FOUND:RE Contemporary is a natural next step in the hotel’s connection with this exciting environment,” said General Manager, Renee Gonzales.
