CALL TO MURALISTS & ARTISTS!

This is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to produce one of eight murals, located on the public facing walls of a utility substation located on Roosevelt St. between 6th & 7th Streets in downtown Phoenix.

The goal of the project is to celebrate the arts and vitality of the Roosevelt Row Arts District and the Evans Churchill Neighborhood, along with the artist community’s contribution to the unique spirit of the area.

Artists will be selected by a jury panel composed of members representing the Roosevelt Row Arts District and Evans Churchill Neighborhood. The primary criteria considerations will be the applicant’s existing portfolio and their personal connection to the neighborhood and arts district.

Budget: Fees range from $10,000-$50,000 per mural

Submissions due: Dec. 14, 2021

Mural installations begin: Mid-January 2022

Yes! Attendance of the pre-submittal session was not mandatory.

Artists will be selected by a selection panel composed of members representing the Roosevelt Row Arts District and Evans Churchill Neighborhood. 

There are two primary criteria points for this selection: (1) existing portfolio strength, and (2) the artist’s connection with the area/district.

Yes, this call is for artists who are Arizona residents.

Selected artists will be paid between $10,000-$50,000 depending on the dimensions of the mural they are assigned.

Unfortunately no, this is due to the project’s overall construction schedule. 

Yes. It’s free and easy to sign up if you haven’t already.

The selection panel is only reviewing existing portfolios. If selected, they will request a concept/rendering. 

Yes. You can also apply as an artist team and partner with a muralist who has experience.
